Example question and answer Question: Evaluate the relationship that the gods have with the humans of Odysseus’ world. Answer: The gods have a very interactive relationship with the humans of Odysseus’ world. Evidence from the story to suggest this is when “Zeus the lord of cloud roused in the north a storm against the ships, and driving veils of squall moved down like night on land and sea.” This quote shows that the gods interfere actively in Odysseus’ life by making his ship get lost in a storm. Enforcing punishment or granting favors, the gods dole out revenge or respite to humans as they indulge their own desire to use mortals as their pawns.
