The Waterfall Vocabulary

Creek- a small stream

poison oak- a plant that causes a rash and itchy skin

Boulder In geology, a boulder is a rock with grain size of usually no less than 256 mm (10 inches) diameter. While a boulder may be small enough to move or roll manually, others are extremely massive.

tumbling: falling and rolling

Rapids- a group of small waterfalls in a river where the water flows very fast.

slippery- causing one to slide

Clung- held tightly to

rustle- a soft fluttering sound

A bonfire is a large controlled outdoor fire.

canyon: a deep valley with steep walls on both sides, formed by running water.

Scouted- observed or explored carefully for information

ledges- flat places like shelves on the sides of cliffs

cauldron A cauldron or caldron (from Latin caldarium, hot bath) is a large metal pot (kettle) for cooking and/or boiling over an open fire, with a large mouth and usually attached to a hanger with the shape of an arc.

Scrawny- thin and bony, skinny

feeling nervous or afraid Anxious- feeling nervous or afraid

sheer- very steep

souvenir - something kept as a reminder of a special place or event.

lugged - carried with great difficulty.

Sculpture A sculpture is a three-dimensional object, which for the purposes of this object is man-made and selected for special recognition as art. A person who creates sculpture is called a sculptor.
