Day 1: Beitou Hotspring Valley Day 2: Yehliu Geopark, Coal Mine Museum, Shifen waterfall Day 3: Yangmingshan National Park

a reserve of natural or semi-natural land declared or owned by government set aside for human recreation and enjoyment animal and environmental protection restricted from most development

With one or several ecosystems not materially altered by human exploitation and occupation, where plant and animal species, geomorphological sites and habitats are of special scientific and educative interest or which contain a natural landscape of great beauty. Highly protected, authority of country has taken steps to prevent or eliminate the exploitation and occupation in the whole area. Visitors are allowed to enter, under special conditions, for inspirational, educative and cultural purposes.

Ecological-protected areas Scenic areas Cultural / historic areas Recreational areas Existing use areas The organization and respective functions of the headquarters are as follows: Planning and Management Section Maintenance of Environment Section Recreation and Service Section Conservation Research Section Interpretation and Education Section

Taiwan Coal Mine Museum Coal Mine Museum is the first exhibition space in the country where the mining culture has been fully presented. Since the museum’s establishment, it has allowed the mining culture in Taiwan to reach another level.

Educational TV We had a chance to act like a worker.

The total distance measured from the entrance of the Yehliu Geopark to the end of the cape is about 1.7 km; the widest area in between is shorter than 300 m..

- The rock landscape of Yehliu Geopark is one of most famous wonders in the world. - The costal line is stretching in a direction vertical to the layer and the structure line; - The influences caused by wave attack, rock weathering, earth movement and crustal movement all contribute to the formation of such a rare and stunning geological landscape.

Yehliu Cape Cuesta Weathering Ring

Honeycombed rock Honeycombed weathering Mushroom rock

-Yehliu is located in the subtropics zone with a temperate and humid climate. - - Each year, the place is under the influences of Northeast monsoon and wave erosion for over a six- month period. - - The impact caused by weathering can be detected apparently on rocks, whereas the formation of strange rock landscapes is also due to the decomposition of the special rock layer as existed underground.

Shifen waterfall is a scenic waterfall located in Pingsi Township, Taiwan, on the upper reaches of the Keelung River. The falls' total height is 20 meters (66 feet) and 40 meters in width, moreover it's the broadest waterfall in Taiwan

Shifen railway We had walked for a long time in order to visit the Coal Mine Museum.

We’re walking along the bridge, it seemed like it’s very dangerous. We’re almost there, the Shifen waterfall.

We finally arrived at the waterfall. There was a little pond for tourists to clean up themselves. The water was very cool.

One of the eight national parks in Taiwan Located between Taipei City and Taipei Country Famous for its cherry blossoms, hot springs, sulfur deposits, fumaroles, venomous snakes and hiking trails, including Taiwan’s tallest and one over the extinct volcano Seven Star Mountain

-Situated between the subtropical and temperate zones. -The additional impact of the northeast monsoon leads to weather patterns that shape the unique scenic spots of Yangmingshan National Park.

-Hot springs -Sulfur springs in white color, which has a unique taste of sulfur, often mixed with volcanic ash soil -In the Yangmingshan National Park, near the Lengshuikeng hot springs, has a special neutral carbonated spring, natural spring water transparency, spring temperature is moderate, and it is the highest quality springs in various locations

Educational TV programme provided Information board is displayed

HotSpring Valley is a Sulfur Gas and Spa(hot spring) Exports, located in the Taiwan Beitou. Hot Spring Valley springs are Gu Acidity Sulfur Spring, the water temperature up to 90 degree celsius, the water is clear and the color was greenish Siyu, commonly known as Green sulfur.

The hot spring valley smelt bad and we felt dizzy after we’d stayed there for a period of time and it was very hot.

Less money is needed to build the park Citizens and tourists can learn things from visiting the national park Make the environment more beautiful Visitors may damage or pollute the national park The nature may be destroyed The nearby restaurants will create a lot of rubbish AdvantagesDisadvantages
