BAVWEB 2012 Complete Manual Prerequisite: BAV theory, experience with any of the older tools.

Getting Started New Project 1 1.Select Manage Projects from Tools menu 2.Type name of new project 3.Select/Add Users to project (yourself included)

Getting Started New Project 2 1.Add Studies 2.Add already existing Bases and charts if needed 3.Hit Save

Getting Started Set Preferences 1.Select User Preferences from Tools menu 2.Select previously created Project 3.Select “US 2012” as chart template – “EU 2014” is in development. 4.Hit Save

Creating Bases 1 1.Select Create Base from Tools menu 2.Select Study options – Latest, All or Project

Creating Bases 2 1.Select a Study 2.Select Survey Section 3.Find or Search for Question or Answer 4.Select Question and click Add to Row or Column (recommend Add to Row only – less confusing)

Creating Bases 3 1.Enter Base Name – avoid special characters. 2.Select Element 3.Click Build Elements to get Respondent count 4.Type your description 5.Click Create Base

Creating Bases 4 1.System checks for already existing bases (faster – Data is already aggregated) 2.Hit Yes if you accept the existing base. 3.Hit No if you want your own base created. 4.Select more studies on pop-up screen to create the same base and click Create Base. If you’re not sure that your base definition is consistent across different studies, you should create bases study-by-study. (E.G. Age breaks might be different btwn studies.) 5.Hit Cancel to get back to Main screen.

Creating Bases 5 – Combined bases: Soda drinkers but NOT Pepsi or Coke 1.Select multiple questions/attributes to create target groups. 2.“Build Elements”  to get Expressions 3.Change first operator to NOT 4.“Combine Elements” – base is not correct (yet)

Creating Bases 6 – Combined bases: Soda drinkers but NOT Pepsi or Coke 1.Edit “Combined Element” definition – Insert Parenthesis where needed. 2.Hit “Refresh Counts” 3.Create Base

Combine bases - Alternative 1.Select Study 2.Select Project 3.Select Base(s) to add to List A and Hit “Add to A” 4.Select Base(s) to add to List B and Hit “Add to B” 5.Select Logical operators for within the Lists and Between. 6.Enter New Base Name 7.Hit Finish to create base

Manage Bases 1.Select Study 2.Select Project Bases or System to Search in. 3.Select Project from List and Hit Search. 4.View Description to see base definition. 5.Rename base. Try to avoid special characters. 6.Delete Base

Create Base Style: Holdouts and Re-Rank (should be called BSS Style) 1.Select Study 2.Hit “Add to Base Selection” 3.Select Project/Base and check Holdouts if you want to include Holdout brands in BSS. 4.To Re-Rank: Select Study and Hit “Add to Rerank Style Selection” 5.Select Project/Base and Style Name and Hit “Finish” 6.Your base with new “style” should be available for charting.

Manage Base Style – to remove “Style” 1.Select Study 2.Select Project, Base and Style Name 3.Hit “Delete Base Style ” (your “Normal” base is not going to be deleted)

Import/Export respondents A - Export respondents 1.Select Study 2.Select Export option 3.Select Project, Base to Export 4.Hit “Export ” 5.“Aspirer” text file generated with respondent IDs.

Import/Export respondents B – Import respondents 1.Select Study 2.Select Import Option. 3.Select Project to Import into. (Respondent ID list should be a single column Text file with no dups) 4.Hit “Choose File” to upload Respondent ID list. ( Uploading started… message appears) 5.“Uploaded Successfully” message should appear. 6.Enter New Base Name 7.Hit “Import ”

Importing Bases from BAVWEB 2008 (for long time Web Tool 2008 users) 1.Select Project to Import from. ( list of your projects in old web tool ) 2.Select Destination Project 3.Select Base(s) to import 4.Hit Import Base

Chart Creation – BSS 1. 1.Select Study 2.Select Project 3.Select Base 4.Click “Add” 5. Click Next

Chart Creation – BSS 2. 1.Select Chart Type -- - BSS 2.Name your Chart 3.Click “Create” 4.Click Add to Queue

Chart Download – Two options To download a chart that was just created, select the chart icon 2.The pop-up window lists the last 15 charts and refreshes periodically to show progress

Chart Download – Two options To download multiple charts in a single workbook click Chart Download in Chart Menu 2.Check multiple charts and hit Download 3.In the pop-up window select file type: Excel or PPT and hit Generate. 4.Click on “Download Now” link to get complete workbook.

Chart Creation – Chart Types 1. 1.Select Study 2.Hit Add 3.Select Project 4.Select Base 5.Select Brand(s) 6.Click Add

Chart Creation – Chart Types 3 1.Edit Chart Names if needed 2.Additional options 3.Click Add To Queue

Chart Types with special conditions and advanced options Input requirements: Select 1 Study; 1 Base; Multiple brands (usually an entire Category ) Extra Option: Select Country to specify language of report. Input requirements: Select 1 Study; 1 Base; 3-6 Brands Lev 48 chart uses all 48 attributes, Lev chart only uses Top 10 common attributes.

Chart Types with special conditions and advanced options Input requirements: Select 1 Study; 1 Base; 1 Brand Note: These charts are based on Rank scores. We could also use BSSs to generate the same in Excel but using PCT scores Input requirements: Select 1 Study/1 Base/2 Brands OR Select 1 Study/2 Bases/1 Brand OR Select 2 Studies/1 Base/1 Brand Advanced option: Set Cut-off value Butterfly will only display attributes where the difference is greater than the cut-off value. Waterfall will display a line at cut-off value

Chart Types with special conditions and advanced options Input requirements: Select 1 or more Studies; 1 or more Bases; 1 or more Brands Please, don’t “abuse” the system with too many selections. Must select Advanced Options to select XY axis
