What will we cover today? Goal setting Breaking Bad Habits Goal setting specific to Funeral Service Setting your Goals

To Achieve your goals You need a structured plan!

Specific Who is involved? What do I want to accomplish? Where? Identify a location. When? Establish a time frame. Which: Identify requirements and constraints. Why? Specific reasons, purpose or benefits of accomplishing the goal.

Measurable Establish concrete criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each goal that you set. When you measure your progress, you stay on track Reach your target dates Experience the exhilaration of achievement that spurs you on to continued effort to reach your goal.

Attainable Your goals must be important to you You will develop attitudes, abilities, skills and financial capacity to reach them. Far reaching goals become attainable, not because they shrink, but because you expand to match them. You see your self as worthy of these goals, and develop the traits and personality that allow you to possess them.

Realistic To be realistic, the goal must represent an objective toward which you are both willing and able to work. A goal can be both high and realistic. You decide how high or realistic you want it to be. A high goal is easier to achieve than a low goal – Low goals exerts low motivational force

Timely A goal should be grounded with a time frame. A time frame creates a sense of urgency. A time frame sets the unconscious mind into motion T can also be for Tangible – A goal is tangible when you can experience it with one of the senses, that is, taste, touch, smell, sight or hearing – When your goal is tangible you have a better chance of making it specific and measureable and thus attainable.

Brian Tracy “Goals” by Brian Tracy Bestseller Four reasons why people don’t set goals They don’t realize the importance of goals. If your family, friends, colleagues, and so forth – are not clear and committed to goals, there is a chance that you will not be, either. They don’t know how to set goals. Goals should be clear, written, specific and measurable. They fear failure. Failure hurts. It is often necessary to experience failure in order to achieve the greatest success. They fear rejection. People are afraid if they are unsuccessful of achieving a goal that others will be critical of them. Keep your goals to yourself at the out set and share your successes with others.
