2 Previous Proposal If the EGSRM (Extended Global Service Redirection Message) sent on the Paging Channel –Contains P_REV 7 –Contains the BAND_CLASS and Frequency for the channel that the mobile station is using Then the mobile station performs a special behavior Two variants –Method called 1A: has the MS wait on Sync Channel to receive P_REV 7 SCHM –Method called 2A: has the MS use a set of “canned” BCCH parameters (data rate, code rate, Walsh channel) Concern was expressed that all P_REV 7 MSs would be required to support this method to avoid looping

3 An Improved Trigger Definition If the EGSRM (Extended Global Service Redirection Message) sent on the Paging Channel –Contains P_REV 255 Then the MS performs the special behavior Benefits  Avoids the problematic timing issues associated with Method 1  Avoids having to modify the Sync Channel data stream with Method 2  Does not require all mobiles to implement the work around
