Waste Discharge Permit Fee Task Force

Purpose of the Task Force  The goal of the Waste Discharge Permit Fee Task Force is to advise Ecology on potential options and alternatives to address the discrepancy between program costs and revenues

Impacts to Ecology  Increased costs minus lower than expected revenue equals approximately a shortfall of $4.64 million  Ecology will be refining the financial outlook over the next month or so.

Reasons for Shortfall  $3.2 million for policy adds  $2.3 million for compensation increases  $2.3 million for lower than expected revenue  $920 thousand lower than expected revenue from the fiscal growth factor (I 960)

Timeline  We hope to conclude the work of the task force by August.  We will present the final recommendation for legislative action if necessary
