William’s Pan Am Book

Pan Am was an airline that flew passenger jets between the 1950s and 1991.

Pan Am planes flew all over the world. New kinds of planes came out in the 60s. They call this time in history the “Jet Age.”

The television show Pan Am is based on the real airline but it is fictional. The story takes place in 1963 and 1964.

Meet the Characters

Kate Cameron

Kate Cameron is a flight attendant. She loves to travel and go to parties and have fun. She likes to have an exciting life.

Kate is also a spy for the CIA. Her spy job is very dangerous. No one knows about it. It is a secret. She has to be sneaky.

Laura Cameron

Laura is nice. This is her first job. She has a lot to learn.

She did not want to get married. She wanted to see the world. So she left with her sister.

Laura likes to take pictures with her camera. It is her hobby.

Kate and Laura are sisters. Laura does not like it when Kate tells her what to do, but Kate worries about her sister.

Colette Valois

Colette is kind and honest, but also a little sad, because she lost her parents when she was very young. She grew up in France.

The attendants work together.

Maggie Ryan

Maggie used to be a waitress but she did not like that job.

Sometimes Maggie does not obey all the rules, which gets her into trouble at work.

The attendant’s job is to serve food and drinks, and make the passengers comfortable.

Dean Lowrey

Dean is the captain. He is strong and kind. He grew up on a farm.

Once, Dean had to land in Haiti because a passenger was sick. It was dangerous.

Dean loves Colette.

Ted Vanderway

Ted is the assistant pilot. He likes to tell jokes and flirt.

Ted and Laura are friends.

The pilots have to work together to fly the plane and keep the passengers safe.
