New & Existing Metal Buildings
Problem: Radiation is the biggest enemy of metal structures and is the primary source of unwanted heat gain and loss. - the Summer sun strikes the roof and walls of a metal building, causing the metal along with standard mass insulation to become saturated with heat. - this heat then radiates into the interior of the building lowering comfort and productivity. - during Winter months, standard insulation and the metal skin absorb radiant energy from the interior of the building and re-radiates out of the building.

What is Reflective Insulation? Insulation that forms enclosed air spaces with layers of paper or plastic, and Aluminum Aluminum foil has the properties of High reflectivity and Low emissivity and blocks up to 97% of radiant energy, so heat transfer through radiation is significantly reduced. Reflectivity (or Reflectance) refers to the fraction of incoming radiant energy that is reflected from the surface. Emissivity (or Emittance) refers to the ability of a material’s surface to emit radiant energy. All materials have an emittance that ranges from zero to one. The lower the emittance of a material, the lower the heat (infra-red radiant energy) radiated from its surface.
