Europe 2015 So I’m spending $4k to go to Europe, how do I get the best out of it?

5 tips to think about to make sure you have the best trip of your life

Luggage DO’s How much can I manage? How much can I manage? What do I need? What do I need? Is it flexible? Oh!!!! my feet! button vs. zipper the plastic bag money belt carry-on bag (essentials in case of delayed bags) How big are the rooms? (sharing) S T R A T E G Y DON’Ts How much can I take? How much can I take? What do I want to take? What do I want to take? 8 pair of shoes Why do I need this? Valuables Don’t forget Rx! Don’t forget a pen? Don’t forget “gate-check”

Above all else, make sure you can manage what you take… loading lugging repacking dirty laundry wet clothes….in a hurry!

Begin right now Goal: leave feeling healthy and ready Walk more Break in shoes / sneakers Get rested Learn to use what you are taking Initial your stuff for easier packing (tape / marker) Google where you are going Plan your money Please, please talk about spending (budget?) Fussy eater? Plan for that Everyone, please resist bringing a suitcase full of candy You can expect to arrive in Europe tired from the flight!

Local time My body time Leave Halifax 6:00 pm Leave Montreal at 9:00 pm Arrive Paris 8:45 am 6:00 pm (HLFX) 10:00 pm (HLFX) 3:45 am (HLFX)

Be patient You are travelling with a group Be the best you can be with your peers Be the best roommate you can be Be in a place where you can “let it go”, if someone / something bothers you Talk with chaperones about everything Don’t let anything ruin your mood! Be positive!

When you are there… You gotta eat You gotta sleep You gotta drink water You gotta poop You don’t gotta sleep on the bus as the sites and sounds of Europe pass you by!

Expect You will not go anywhere alone Small hotel rooms No place to unpack your suitcase Food left open in your room is a bad idea Grab an apple (to go) from b’fast Wi-fi communication with Bank machines If you don’t need to go to the washroom when the bus stops… go anyway! Expect to have the best trip of your life.

So, in a nutshell…consider 1.luggage & packing 2.being in great shape before leaving 3.understanding what it means to be in a large group 4.eat, sleep, enjoy! 5.expect challenges but see only opportunities!
