Carbon Monoxide Detectors & Smoke Detectors

1.Purchase carbon monoxide (CO) and smoke detectors when you first move into a house. CO when using natural Gas, propane, wood, or coal. (You don’t know how old the ones in the house are.) 2.Place detectors high on the ceiling or on the wall near bedrooms. 3.One CO detector for each level. 4.Multiple Smoke detectors. One for each hallway and each bedroom.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Check & Replace batteries twice a year ( Daylight savings time). Test periodically. (Once a week during winter months & once a month summer months ) Replace CO detector Battery operated only - every five years. Electric only- every two years. Some will last seven years. Check the manufactures recommendations if your not sure.

Smoke Detectors Check and Replace batteries ( Daylight savings time). Replace smoke detectors every ten years or sooner as recommended by The National Fire Protection Association Test twice a year, periodic maintenance such as dust and insect removal.
