Barrack Lane, Allihies The Houlihan’s (later Holland) lived on Barrack Lane in Allihies. It was a collection of rock houses that had thatched roofs and dirt floors, built in the early to mid-1800’s.

Ballydonegan Strand The Allihies Mountain Mine is on the mountainside. Ore from the mines was taken down the creeks and rivers to the bay, where it was loaded on ships and taken abroad. The sand on the beach on Ballydonegan Bay supposedly came from crushed rock that was washed down the creeks from the mines. Mine
