Grades 2-5 / All Core Subjects (except Language Arts)  Independent Assessments 40%  Daily Grades 40%  Quizzes and CAs 15%  Homework Grades 5 % 2-5 Language Arts:  Independent Assessments 40% * Daily Grades 40%  CA and Published Writing 15%  Homework 5%

 Student Success Initiative (SSI) SSI: Student Success Initiative  5th grade students must pass the STAAR reading and math test to be promoted to 6th grade.  Students have three opportunities to pass the STAAR reading test and three opportunities to pass the STAAR math test (two during the spring and one during the summer).  If a student does not pass one or both tests, the school must give the student the additional instruction after each testing opportunity, and the student must participate in that instruction.  After the 3rd testing opportunity, a student who is unsuccessful on the STAAR reading or math test will be retained automatically.

STAAR Dates for Fifth Grade:  April 1, 2014 Math (SSI)  April 2, 2014 Reading (SSI)  April 23, 2014 Science

 Absent/Late Work Policy: Make Up Work Students shall be permitted to make up assignments and tests following any absence. If a student does not complete the work assigned after the allotted number of days has passed, the actual grade of zero will be recorded in the grade book. Teachers are required to provide assignments prior to an absence, when requested by the student or parent. Please note: scheduled absences require principal approval with two weeks advanced notice.
