The United States announced an agreement with Australia that will boost America's presence there. Up to 250 U.S. Marines will be sent to Australia with their numbers expected to climb to 2,500. This might be a reaction to China’s military presence in the region. Also, the U.S. military will be able to respond quickly to natural disasters as well as remain involved in countering piracy in Southeast Asia.
