Officer Waivers MCRC ON/E July 12

Officer Waiver Process “Used to maintain consistency within the Marine Corps for categorization of civilian offenses in regard to waivers.” Modified version of Matrix/Offense Classification Used primarily for your Sideload applicants. Some scholarship MIDN and MECEP Marines may need waivers as appropriate.

Resources Guide for Typical Offenses –What kinds of things require waiver –Number of offenses Documentation Guide –What we need to process waivers –More is better Waiver Matrix –Detailed description and conditions –When in doubt, give us a call Available on ON/E Website

Typical Waivers Tattoos (should be done with applications) Marijuana –Pre-service for MECEPs (approved with application) –Prior to college for 4 year scholarship Speeding tickets fines $250 or more (1 ticket) or $500 combined for 1-5 tickets Campus parking tickets (cost dependent) Arrests –DUI –Underage drinking/public intox

Officer Waiver Process All waivers approved at MCRC Units provide supporting documentation depending on type of waiver required –Major Misconduct Offense (MMO) –Misconduct Offenses (MO) –Other Non-Traffic Offenses (ONTO) –Traffic Offenses (TO)

Officer Waiver Process Waivers good for entire program unless: –Specific waiver policy changes –Situation pertaining to previously approved waiver has changed, then resubmit Commanders may disapprove waivers that clearly do not merit waiver consideration

Officer Waiver Process Supporting Documentation varies by waiver required but most require: –Applicant photo page –Handwritten statement that adequately addresses the waiver (5 Ws) –Applicable supporting documents (police reports, proof of payment, etc.) Reference MCRC ON/E Waiver Approval/Documentation Guide for specifics.

Tattoos MARADMIN 029/10 is current guidance. Need color photos of tattoo(s) –Up close –Private area requires drawing and description (no photo) –In properly fitting PT gear –Each angle tattoo is visible Screening and SOU forms signed/dated by member and MOI. Detailed description from member on tattoo (when, why, what it means, etc.) Updated Information Sheet Let us know if you don’t get an approval/denial letter

Issues with Waivers MCRC not notified of issue requiring waiver No handwritten statement. Statement does not adequately describe incident. Lack of official documentation. No updated Information Sheet. No PRB included if done. When in doubt look at matrix or ask MCRC TALK TO YOUR STUDENTS
