ESEA Waiver Update

1. Extend our current ESEA Waiver another year. 2. Respond to our current conditional “high risk” status. 3. Respond to our Fall 2013 USDE Monitoring Visit. 4. Amend items in our Current Waiver. 5. Move the use of using student growth to inform personnel decisions until

All states are given the option to request an extension of their current waivers for an additional year. If approved, our waiver would extend into the school year. Must submit by February 28, 2013

Involves Principal 3 of our waiver. How Kansas chooses to use student growth as a significant factor in teacher/leader evaluations. Positive response/progress with the USDE Will submit our plan to move forward by January 24, 2013

All States with an ESEA Waiver are required to have a monitoring visit to make sure we are following through with our plan. Kansas received high remarks for the involvement that the field had in the development and ongoing work with implementing the waiver.

Reset AMO Targets using results from the Assessment (new baseline) A new assessment model that allows for multiple assessments at the high school level Re-think how we identify “Not Making Progress” schools

Results from the state assessments would not be used in teacher/leader evaluations until the school year.
