Currently standards are still in place for Keyboarding at grades 7-8 and Computer Business Applications at grades 9-12.

Changes in Keyboarding Beginning Keyboarding skills will need to be taught in Kindergarten – Fourth Grade PARCC ELA Frameworks - Writing Progressions   Grade Level Progression 3 Keyboarding Skills, Use digital sources to gather evidence 4 Type minimum of 1 page in single setting, Formatting (headings)

Grades 5/6 (If Keyboarding is integrated into K-4) Grade 5: Input Technologies – this course shall enhance and refine the beginning technology skills students learned in the lower grades. Grade 6: Technologies Communications – this course shall continue to enhance and refine the beginning technology skills learned in the lower grades, but shall also include instruction in business communications The minimum required amount of time to teach these two courses is forty minutes per week or its equivalent during the school year. Teaching Qualifications: Hold a valid Arkansas teaching license with a Business Education certification; or Hold a valid Arkansas teaching license, complete the ACE-approved professional development (3-days), and receive the endorsement The above courses require a waiver from James Brock, Program Manager for Business/Marketing Technology and a transition plan submitted to ACE.

Grade 7: Information and Communications Technology – this course shall complete the required technology curriculum. The minimum required amount of time to teach this course is sixty clock hours or one semester. Teachers must hold a valid Arkansas teaching license with a Business Education certification. Grades 7/8: Introduction to Business Communications and Technologies (this is a new course and would only be necessary if Grade 5-6 was not taught). Teachers must hold a valid Arkansas teaching license with a Business Education certification. Grades 9-12:– Technology Design and Applications – this is a new course and will replace Computer Business Applications, it will be a core course for all Business/Marketing Technology Programs of Study and will be a part of the currently required 38 units to be taught in all high schools. The required amount of time to teach this course is 120 clock hours for one unit of credit. The above courses require a waiver from James Brock, Program Manager for Business/Marketing Technology and a transition plan submitted to ACE.

PARCC ELA Frameworks - Writing Progressions   Grade Level Progression 5 Type minimum of 2 pages in single setting, Graphics, images, music, sound in presentations 6 Type minimum of 3 pages in single setting, Assess credibility of sources, provide bibliographic information 7 Link to and cite sources, Include multimedia components and visual displays in presentations to clarify claims and findings and emphasize points 8 Integrate multimedia and visual displays into presentations to clarify information, strengthen claims and evidence and add interest 9 -10 Use technology, including the internet to produce, publish, and update individual or shared writing projects, taking advantage of technology's capacity to link to other information and to display information flexibly and dynamically Make strategic use of digital media (textual, graphical, audio, visual and interactive elements) in presentations to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest

Changes in Career Orientation Career Orientation is STILL a foundation course for all programs of study. Beginning 2014-2015, a new course called Career Development will take the place of Career Orientation. Career Development will be an 8th grade class and is an integrated version of frameworks found in C.O. and project-based technology. This is a semester course, and the teacher must hold a teaching license covering grade 8 and complete ACE-provided in-service for a new (418) endorsement. Career Development should be taught in a computer lab
