Electricity, Magnetism, and Motion Josh C, Nate S, Kelsey O, Katherine Z

Motion is produced by… …magnets. Like poles can repel each other and opposite poles can attract. …the interaction between electricity and magnetism. If a wire containing electricity is placed in a magnetic field, something moves.

Energy The ability to move an object. There are two types of energy. Mechanical Energy (potential or kinetic motion) Electrical energy (static or current electricity)

Galvanometer Galvanometers measure electrical charge. The arrow in a galvanometer is moved by the interaction between electricity and magnets.

Electric Motors An electric motor is a device found in many toys and uses the interaction between electricity and magnetism to spin an axle and covert electrical energy into mechanical energy. The three main parts of a motor are the commutator, the brushes, and the armature. Brushes: Things the commutator slides past Commutator: a device that reverses the direction of flow in an electric motor An arrangment of wires in a motor around an iron core.

THE END Katherine, Josh, Kelsey, and Nate all hope that we helped you learn something interesting about electricity, magnetism and motion! Galvanometer (that looks like a smiley face!)
