Knowing What The Bible Says About Money Is ……

The Bible Has Much To Say About Money 16 of the 38 parables of Jesus are about money Jesus says more about money than heaven or hell combined One out of ten verses relate to money in the four gospels

The Bible Has Much To Say About Money

“For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it” “For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it” (1 Tim. 6:7, NIV)

1.Life on this earth has “no profit” “Naked a man comes from his mother's womb, and as he comes, so he departs. He takes nothing from his labor that he can carry in his hand. This too is a grievous evil: As a man comes, so he departs, and what does he gain, since he toils for the wind?” (Ecclesiastes 5:15-16, NIV)

“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Matt. 16:26 NIV)

Hello, I’m the devil. I want to buy your soul. How much will you sell it to me for?

1.Life on this earth has “no profit” 2.Don’t trust riches - they will fail “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.” (Proverbs 23:5 NIV)

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 NIV)

1.Life on this earth has “no profit” 2.Don’t trust riches - they will fail 3.You will never have enough money to make you happy

“Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.” (Ecclesiastes 5:10 NIV)

1.Life on this earth has “no profit” 2.Don’t trust riches - they will fail 3.You will never have enough money to make you happy 4.The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil

“People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:9-10 NIV) “want” means to be “consumed” with the desire for riches

Abraham Job David Solomon Nicodemus Barnabas Philemon It is not wrong to have money. Nowhere in the Bible is money, per se, condemned.

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” (1 Timothy 6:17-19 NIV)

“He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.” (Ephesians 4:28 NIV)

By toiling and working Drudging and slaving Laboring and striving Scheming and contriving Hurrying and worrying Planning and plotting Rising early and lying down late

1.Life on this earth has “no profit” 2.Don’t trust riches - they will fail 3.You will never have enough money to make you happy 4.The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil 5.There will be sorrow in the getting of riches 6.We really don’t own anything

Our relationship to God is like Joseph’s relationship to his Master “Now Joseph had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar,…who was one of Pharaoh's officials, …bought him from the Ishmaelites… The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered… When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes… Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned.” (Genesis 39:1-4)

Money, a most common temporary thing, involves uncommon and eternal consequences. Even though it is not always evident – money molds men. The process of getting it, saving it, spending it, and giving it, proves to be a blessing or a curse. Either the man becomes master of his money or money becomes the master of the man.

God Takes Money: Dirty, everyday, necessary money and uses it as a test for our lives Our money management is an accurate index of our true nature

Our Choices: Either we control our money or our money controls us! Either we use our money for the glory of God or we use it for our own pleasures! Either we use our money to help us get to heaven or it will be the cause of us going to hell!
