Multi-Planar Projection by Fixed-Center Pan-Tilt Projectors Ikuhisa Mitsugami, Norimichi Ukita, Masatsugu Kidode Graduate School of Information Science Nara Institute of Science and Technology

Objectives  To use all planes in the environment as flexible virtual displays  precisely at position where we want it be.  with precise size that we want it be.  without any distortions.  on multiple planes (and even on their boundaries).  by easy set-up.

Demonstration

Mechanism of FC-PT Projector  A Projecter is placed on rotatable stage so that its projection center precisely corresponds to the rotation center.  The projection center is fixed independent of the orientation of the projector.  “ Tangent plane ” is introduced to integrate image planes of all orientations.  All planes in the environment are also described on “ tangent plane. ” corresponding area of P 1 wall R tangent plane Q FC-PT projector corresponding area of P 2 relation H wall R tangent plane Q FC-PT projector

Future Works and Applications  Future works  Automation of set-up task.  Cooperation of multiple FC-PT projectors.  Projection onto the non-planar surfaces or moving objects.  Applications : applicable to many applications for displaying visual information in ubiquitous computing environment.  Ubiquitous TV displays, virtual posters.  Human navigation, annotation to the environment. etc …
