Printer sublimation tegnology SERVICE SUPPORT (Spanish Branch) Printer sublimation tegnology Objective: The followings contents try to use the same definition for all efects (key words) Which will be understand each other VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Obiki (Smearing) SERVICE SUPPORT (Spanish Branch) Key word = Obiki (Smearing) Black area Especially Light grayish “back ground” Thermal head Printing direction Smearing symptom reason sample Printing Starting Paper Direction This symptom will be caused due to thermal responce of thermal head from black (high temperature) to white (low temperature) changing. VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Problems due to the paper Mechanism, the paper has Key word = Skew (skew) Problems due to the paper Mechanism, the paper has A shifting moviment from the left to right and vice versa Printing area Printed paper Photo Nº 1

Key word = Nodo Mura ( Uniformity of printing density) SERVICE SUPPORT (Spanish Branch) Key word = Nodo Mura ( Uniformity of printing density) “Noudo Mura” is general word about the un-uniformity of printing density. One of the SAMPLES One of the REASONS Thermal head Printing direction Uneven thermal head surface cause Uniformitil level efect, and makes not good constant contact between thermal head/inksheet/paper and platen roller. VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

REASON SAMPLE Key word = Fuka Mura SERVICE SUPPORT (Spanish Branch) Key word = Fuka Mura REASON SAMPLE White area change into of gray back ground produce un evengray Thermal head (internal constructions) + voltage input data Comun ground virtual resistor The comun cable, which goes to the comun ground, it is not a perfect conductor, it has a small resistence less than 1 Ω, it is represented above, like a virtual resistor. Therfore a big current will produce a big DDC to the virtual resistor. The voltage adjusment is fixed, then when the current is lower due to a bigger are white then virtual resistor will has low voltage in betwem, when the current is bigger due to gray back ground therfore the voltage in the virtual resistor will be bigger, it means that, for the same voltage input, the total current will be different betwen, gray and white area,. therfore this difference is different gray value betwen. all thermal head area making gray or half thermal head making gray. Look at the attache photo VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Siwa (Wrinkling) SERVICE SUPPORT (Spanish Branch) Key word = Siwa (Wrinkling) REASON sample Thermal Head Voltage Adjustment too high VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Kizu ( Scratch on printing surface) One of the reasons sample Thermal head Possible causes Small roughness on the plate indicated with the circle In this case, it could be resolverd with a lapping sheet Also this phenomen can be produced by cutter when the paper pass trought it Dust or another dirty material It can be resolved rubbing with laping sheet VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Okuri Mura (Banding) sample REASON Printer direction When the paper running or the Ink Shent running they don´t have even moviment Then in both cases appear banding efect, Check the publicated technical note for details On the another hand when the platter roller , or any related roller, they have some defect , appear banding. Gears, torke limiter, ink motor or paper motor can produce bading too if some one has some defect VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key Word = Suji Mura (wide line or stripe pattern in general concept) Wide line or stripe pattern of printintg density in the paper feeding direction Any density problem due to paper, ink or themal head missalignment which still is not recognized the reason Printing VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

The efect can appear in the following cases Key Word = Sticking Strong noise The efect can appear in the following cases High room temperature and dark image printing continusly Due to Ink sheet characterics Wrong thermal head alignment Too high voltage voltage for thermal head In this condition appear sticking It means that is difficutl remove the paper from the ink sheet VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Frontal View Thermal head Key word = Drag Line sample REASON Frontal View Thermal head Platten Roller Axis View Thermal head DRAG LINE EFFECT The thermal head has to be alineated for the above cases Thermal Head Adjustemnt VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Kasure ( un-even of printing uniformity) REASON Thermal head No good contact between thermal head heater line an platten roller Frontal View Platten Roller Axis View Thermal head sample Thermal Head Adjustemnt VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Niji Mura (Rainbow Stripe) sample REASON The enviroment light is reflected on the photo mainly with very dark areas it. It appear due to Over Coat protection where the light is reflected and appearing Nijin Moura (rain Bow), mainly with very dark images VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

sample Key word = Block Nuke (white band) REASON data voltage virtual resistor Comun grond Driver unit To the transitors If the driver unit marked with a circle is broken which is inside of thermal head, then all the pixels related to the driver will be inoperated, terfore will appear a white ban on the photo VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Dot Nuke (White line) sample REASON Dead a heater pixel on thermal head Data CMOS IC voltage virtual resistor Comun grond Driver unit data To the transitors Pixel dead due to Electroestatic discharge VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Shiro Nuke ( Thermal head scratch) sample REASON Surface head damaged White line cause by thermal head damaged Paper running direction VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key word = Iro Zure (Miss registration) sample REASON Miss registration of the printing position with yellow magenta and cyan color This effect apperar when appear driving problems with the paper or Ink sheet VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL

Key Word = Tofu mura ( Un uniformity of ink) Sample-1 REASON This uniformity is caused by the ink sheet with un-uniformity of printed ink on inksheet firm. Sample-2 VIS Services & Support MEUSP CONFIDENTIAL
