Contents : History Introduction Working Of P-ISM Block Diagram Of P-ism Functions Of Pens Pros & Cons Conclusion

History “Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget" created in 2003 by Japanese technology company NEC. Its designer Tour Ichihash. P-ISM was first featured at the 2003 ITU Telecom world held in Geneva, Switzerland. NEC Company displayed a conceptual $30,000 prototype of P-ISM Tour Ichihash

Introduction The P-ISM system was based on “electronic perception technology”. P-ISMs are computers in the shape of different P-ISMSs are connected with a wireless technology. Whole set is connected with cellular phone function. P-ISM is a gadget package including five functions: i. A computing engine-CPU Pen ii. Virtual keyboard, iii. A very small projector, iv. Camera Scanner and v. communication device.

What is Electronic Perception Technology(EPT) ? Electronic Perception Technology (EPT) is a low-cost, single-chip imagining technology. One of the first applications is a "virtual keyboard”. Current EPT keyboards can sense up to 400 characters per minute. EPT systems can accurately determine brightness and distinguish objects from one another.

Working Of P-ISM P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-range wireless technology. This "pen sort of instrument" produces both the monitor as well as the keyboard on any flat surfaces. The whole set is also connected to the Internet through the cellular phone.

Block Diagram Of P-ISM

CPU Pen The functionality of CPU is done by one of the pens. It is also known as ‘Computing Engine’. Dual core processor is used It works with ‘Windows OS’.

CPU Pen . The control unit direct the entire computer system Operation of a CPU include 4 steps : ● Fetch ● Decode ● Execute ● Write back

Communication Pen P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-range wireless technology. The whole set is also connected to the Internet through the cellular phone function. They are connected through Tri-wireless modes (Bluetooth, 802.11B/G, and Cellular) which are made small and kept in a small pen like device. Communication Pen WirelessBluetooth Technology.  Exchangeinformation with wirelessconnection. Connected to internet through cellular phone function. UsesWi-Fi technology 12.  Very effective because we can able to connect whenever we need without having wires.  Bluetooth is a packet-based protocol with a master-slavestructure.

Connectivity 802.11B/G and Bluetooth: Bluetooth is widely used because we can able to transfer data or make connections without wires. They are used at the frequency band of 2.4 GHz Bluetooth mechanism is used for exchanging signal status information between two devices. Bluetooth provides a secure way to connect and  exchange information between devices

LED Projector Monitor is LED projector. Size is A4. Resolution of 1024*768 approx. It gives good quality and good pictures. The role of monitor is taken by LED Projector which projects on the screen.  It has the approximate resolution capacity of 1024 X 768 LED PROJECTORLED PROJECTOR Monitor is LED Projector. It gives more clarity and good picture. led projector is a device that receives a video  signal and projects the corresponding image on a  projection screen using a lens system. ● A video projector, also known as a digital  projector, may be built into a cabinet with a rear projector screen( rear projection television, or  RPTV) to form a single unified display device,  now popular for “home theater” applications.

LED Projector(Contd..) Led projector is a device that receives a video signal and projects the corresponding image on a projection screen using a lens system. A video projector, also known as a digital projector, may be built into a cabinet with a rear projector screen( rear projection television, or RPTV) to form a single unified displaydevice, now popular for “home theater” applications.

Virtual keyboard The Virtual Laser Keyboard (VKB) is the ultimate new gadget. It emits LASER on desk. Uses LASER beam to generate full-sized perfect keyboard. A virtual keyboard is a software component that allows a user to enter characters. Virtual keyboards may be used in some cases to reduce the risk of keystroke logging.

Virtual keyboard Virtual keyboards are commonly used as an on screen input method in devices with no physical keyboard, where there is no room for one, such as a pocket computer, personal digital assistant (PDA) tablet computer or touch screen equipped mobile phone. It is common for the user to input text by tapping a virtual keyboard built into the operating System of the device. Virtual keyboards are also used as features of emulation software for systems that have fewer buttons than a computer keyboard would have.

Virtual keyboard Features of virtual keyboard are: Sound Connection Intensity Timeouts Sensitivity Auto_repeat parameters.

Example

Digital Camera It is useful in video recording, video conferencing. It is simply called as Web Cam. It is connected with other devices through Bluetooth. Easily portable. It is a 360-Degree Visual Communication Device.

Digital Camera Three main methods of capturing the image Single shot Multi shot Scanning Types of digital cameras Compacts digital camera Bridge camera Mirror less interchangeable lens camera Resolution is limited by a image sensor.

Battery The most important part in the portable type of computer is its battery. Usually batteries must be small in size and work for longer time. It comes with a battery life of 6+ (i.e. 6 Days). For normal use it can be used for 2 weeks.

Battery The types of battery used here is lithium ion battery. The storage device is of the type tubular holographic which is capable of storing. The use of lithium ion battery in this gadget will reduce energy density, durability and cost factor.

Pros of P-ISM Forthcoming computer Portable Feasible Ubiquitous computing is done Wi-Fi Technology Carry within our pockets

Cons of P-ISM Low storage capacity It is very expensive Battery back-up is less

Say, "Good-bye Laptops!" & Welcome “Pen Sort Instrument” Conclusion Say, "Good-bye Laptops!" & Welcome “Pen Sort Instrument” This 'pen sort of instrument' produces both the monitor as well as the keyboard on any flat surfaces from where you can carry out functions you would normally do on your desktop computer.
