27 Imac Computers in the Computer Lab Server for Entire School School Wide Internet

Overhead Projector w/ LCD Projector (Old) Two Digital Cameras (Old and Outdated) Video Camera (Old and Outdated)

All Classes have computers and some have printers. However, they are old and not kept in working order. Some teachers have newer computers than others.

The tech support we have is okay. We have to call the school district to fix our computers. It takes roughly 2 weeks to get them to come out. We have a tech guy on site but he takes just as long as the district and he has no idea.

We have NO curriculum support at the school. The individual because he only cares about searching the web and leaving early. We do have teachers who have some type of experience but not much.

The programs that the students have access to are mostly learning games.

Type to learn is a program intended to introduce students to the keyboard. Troggle Trouble is a math game that uses math facts to feed the hungry dog. Wild West Math is a leveled math game. You have to answer the math questions before the horse bucks off the cowboy. Hyper studio is art program where the students can show off their creativity.

 All the IMAC’S are internet ready with Microsoft explorer 6.0.  Most teachers don’t use the internet but instead have the students playing the learning games.  Approved internet sites are on the whiteboard in the computer lab.

OUR COMPUTER PROBLEMS! HERE WE GO…….

MAIN PROBLEMS … TECH ASSISTANT – Not able to assist student & teacher’s needs. ROOM/LOCATION - Lab located in library area not allowing enough work space.

MORE PROBLEMS…. TEACHERS – Not trained ensuring optimal student learning. EQUIPMENT - Not enough computers, LCD screens/projector, scanner, digital cameras……..uggh! 

 Solution #1- Move the library to a vacant room. To make more room in the Computer Lab.  Solution #2- Change the computer lab to a more traditional type of classroom setup. To make the computer lab more teachable.

 Solution #3- Hire a new tech assistant. For tech support and teacher training.  Solution #4- Buy new equipment. To boldly go where no student has gone before.
