Consultative Model The Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) works with classroom teachers using the consultative model to integrate technology into the curriculum. The ITS and teacher work together to plan, co-teach, and assess the integration of technology into the Westford curriculum. For More Information visit the Educational Technology page on the WPS web site: ech/consult

Hardware/ Peripherals The next several slides provide parents and community members with an overview of the hardware and peripherals available at the Miller.

Classroom Computers Each classroom is equipped with an eMac computer for teacher and instructional use.

Computer Lab As of September of 2008, the eMacs in the computer lab were replaced with iMacs.

SmartBoard In addition to our new iMac computers, our lab is equipped with a SMART Board. This interactive whiteboard, is a large, touch-controlled screen that works with a projector and a computer. The projector throws the computer’s desktop image onto the interactive whiteboard, which acts as both a monitor and an input device. Users can write on the interactive whiteboard in digital ink or use a finger to control computer applications by pointing, clicking and dragging, just as with a desktop mouse.

Olympus Digital Microscope A digital microscope is available for in the lab for group instruction. The microscope is connected to a PC laptop in addition to a projector and the smartboard. This enables the entire class to observe science samples at once.

AlphaSmart Cart The Miller has a rolling cart of 30 AlphaSmarts that can be used for whole class word processing assignments. After the students type their work on the AlphaSmart, the teacher can send their work to their classroom computer where they can edit and format their assignment and print the final draft.

Alphasmart Each classroom (Pre-1st through Grade Two) has access to two AlphaSmarts in the classroom for individual and learning center writing projects.

Digital Cameras Each grade level wing has access to a digital camera for classroom projects.

In-Focus Projectors Each grade level wing has access to a LCD projector. These devices allow the teacher the ability to present whole class lessons to their students using the computer.

Sony Camcorder The Miller School has two digital camcorders for classroom use.

Educational Software The remainder of the slides provide parents and community members with an overview of the educational software available at the Miller.
