Setting up and using an LED projector with computer & video input device MEDT 7477 Submitted by: Team 6 Has Slone

Equipment to be connected Dell Inspiron LaptopEpson projector

Attaching the projector Cable to be used to connect the laptop and projector. Note that both ends of the plug are male. Projector; note the blue monitor plug on the right side is a female plug.

Attaching the Laptop Cable to be used to connect the laptop and projector. Note that both ends of the plug are male. Back side of the Dell Laptop. Note the blue monitor plug is female.

Attach the power cords to both devices Attach power cord to laptop Attach power cord to projector

Turn on the computer If you turn on the computer first, when you turn on the projector, it will hunt for a signal and automatically find the computer. If you turn on the projector first, then you will need to use the projector help screen to find the Function (Fn) key combination across the top of the keyboard. For Dell it is Fn + F8 combination.

Open the lens cover on the projector Slide the cover sideways from right side to the left side to lock on the left.

Press the power button on the projector Press the power button on the projector one time and allow the fan and bulb to come on. Don’t push it more than once….be patient. Note: Pushing the button twice will also turn it off.

The projector should automatically find the computer input signal and project on the screen what is shown on the computer.

Adjust the focus on the projector for clarity.

Should the computer signal not be shown on the screen…… Assuming there is a blue screen with the words “No Signal” showing, do the following: 1. Press the Source Signal button and stop when computer signal is shown. 2. Next, you must know the correct code for the computer that you are using and press the appropriate combination. For the Dell that combination is Fn + F8. 3. Press the Fn + F8 together and the projector should then pick up the computer signal. If there is no blue screen with “No Signal” showing, check the projector power cord. If that is hooked up correctly, check the projector bulb. If that doesn’t work, it is time to ask for help.

Next, we will add a document camera to the projector and Laptop. AVerVision 300AF+ : Portable Document Camera | Visual Presenter This device can be hooked up through the computer with the provided software or directly to the projector using an RCA cable. I tend to use it to review handouts or student work for all to see. This greatly precludes making plastic overlays for the overhead projector. Hooking it up through the computer will allow you to take pictures of things that you put under the.

Connecting the Avermedia document camera to the projector. Connect the Dell Laptop blue female plug (VGA out) to the Avermedia document camera black female plug (VGA in) with a VGA cable with male plugs at both ends as shown below.

Connecting the document camera to the Epson Projector Connect the document camera from the VGA Out (blue female plug) with the VGA cable with two male ends To the blue female monitor connector on the Epson projector.
