Bellwork Objective  Teach your partner all the irregular verb types. Be prepared to teach the class.  When you finish compare these with what your partner has.  Students will be able to formulate j verbs & stem changers.

 Cargarzar verbs are: bus car, pa gar, empe zar  c qu (yo) busqué  g gu (yo) pagué  z c (yo) empecé  They make these changes for the YO form in the preterite

 Fraternal › Dar › ver  Same pattern but different stem  di &vi  diste & viste  dio & vio  dimos & vimos  dieron & vieron  Identical › Ser › Ir  Same word just different meanings  Fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fueron

Special endings eimos isteisteis oieron VerbsStems PonerPus- Poder pud- AndarAnduv- SaberSup-- TenerTuv-- EstarEstuv-

 Called the Sole because the change happens in the Sole (ud. & uds. Form) of the boot.  Possible changes: › e i and o u › pedir pidió & pidieron › Dormir durmió & durmieron

 Eery are words that end in eer- leer, creer  Accents normal plus the i’s  Where do we put the y? › Él, ella, ud. & ellos, ellas, uds. Leer-to read leíleímos leísteleísteis le y óle y eron Why the y? Because of the triple vowel rule! Can’t have three in a row!

 Y-verbs are words that have the y change  Like construir, caer  Where do we put the y? › Él, ella, ud. & ellos, ellas, uds. Construir- to build construíconstruimos construisteconstruisteis constru y óconstru y eron

 Have a change in the stem of the verb  Examples stem changers: › venir- vin › querer- quis › Hacer- hic, *except for ud. Hizo › Decir- dij *stem & j verb*  Note: They have special endings like the PPASTE

 Stem change by adding in a j  Traducir, traer, decir, producir, conducir  Same endings as the PPASTE except for ustedes  Add a j for the forms!
