TOP TEN STRATEGIES FOR A SUCCESSFUL CAREER DAY

WHAT TO EXPECT? The Bryce Jordan Center will be extremely busy, hundreds of organizations will be recruiting for various positions, and thousand of students will be in attendance Student Check In: you will receive a nametag with your name and major. Bring your Student ID to expedite the process Interviews and Info Sessions: some employers may ask you to interview the next day, or attend an information session No Bag Policy! Bags of any kind including backpacks, purses and clutches will not be allowed in the Bryce Jordan Center, you are encouraged to bring a portfolio or folder to hold our resumes, etc.

RESEARCH EMPLOYERS ATTENDING You can find a list of employers who are attending here- o Know which days you plan on attending o Research the businesses and organizations that you are interested in. This shows that you have initiative and will prepare you to speak with them. o Have a strategy on who you want to talk to, so that you connect with the companies most important to you

PRACTICE YOUR INTRODUCTION Speak confidently to businesses that interest you! Begin with: Firm handshake and good eye contact Warm smile and confident introduction A sense of enthusiasm and confidence Be ready to answer an opening question: “Tell me about yourself” “Tell me what you know/like about our company”
