Tone: The writer cares about the topic and it shows. He or she establishes authority on the topic and writes in a compelling, expressive manner. Audience: make sure that your tone and voice are appropriate for your audience.  Decide: Who am I talking to?

 Why did the author choose this title?  What is the first thing that you notice on the cover?  How is the tone of the book established on the cover?

 What does TMI usually mean?  What does TMI mean in the book?  Who is the author targeting with this voice and tone?

 Select the Greek god that you think is the best of all.  Use the information page to complete the brainstorm Explain any misdeeds using the voice of your selected mythological god. Be creative. Just like in the presidential election, promises are made to persuade the audience to vote for the candidate. Use your god’s divine powers to make plans for the future. (Hades might promise to turn the thermostat down a little so that it is a more comfortable eternity in the underworld).

Opinion: I, Ares, god of violence and warfare, am the best god of all! Reasons: Since I frequently control the life and death of humans, I am clearly important. Also, I am fierce and confident, which are traits that a leader needs to have. Examples: I was responsible for the Trojan War. I also am the reason there is no world peace! I have fire-breathing horses, which shows how fierce everything associated with me is. Opinion: Just remember, a vote for me as the best god is a vote for protection from your enemies on the battlefield of junior high!
