Youth Girl’s Lacrosse Field - Positions

12 Players on the field Attackers- includes the first home, second home, third home, and two attack wings first home - skilled with the stick and is relied upon to score second home - playmaker who must get open to set up scoring opportunities third home - an all-around player who is key to transitioning from defense to offense attack wings - often involved in finishing a fast break, often the first to gain possession off a draw Defenders- includes the point, cover point, third man, center, defense wings, and Goalkeeper point - marks the first home. Decision-making, positioning, and shot blocking are key skills. cover point - usually the best one-on-one defender who relies on speed and footwork to mark the second home. The Third man - primary duty is disturbing the attack in the midfield, looks to intercept passes and quickly pick up an open attacker center - a pivotal player in transition from defense to offense, also controls the draw. Helpful Terms Goal Circle: The circle around the goal, no player's stick or body may "break" the cylinder of the goal circle. Sphere: An imaginary area which surrounds a player's head.
