Boston Terrier Because they are friendly and gentle, Boston terriers are know as the American gentleman among dogs. They were first bred in America, resulting from a cross between Judge, an English Bulldog and Gyp, a white English Terrier.

Border Collie The Border Collie originated in the hills between Scotland and England. They can work long days on rocky ground. Border Collies can control their sheep with their bright eyes They are very smart and can work out of sight of its master without commands.

German Shepherd German Shepherd Dogs can do many jobs. They work as police dogs, service dogs, herding dogs, and watch dogs. They keep their masters safe and are very loyal.

Welsh Corgi There are two kinds of Welsh Corgis, the Pembroke and the Cardigan. They herd sheep by nipping at their tails and legs. The first Welsh Corgis came to England with weavers.

Scottish Terrier The Scottish Terrier was bred in Scotland as a fierce hunter of foxes and badgers. Franklin D. Roosevelt's Scottish Terrier "Fala" received more fan mail than many presidents did.

Bassett Hound Bassett hounds are hunting dogs. Their large noses, long ears and short legs make them good at following the scent of the trail.

Dachshund The Dachshund was developed in Germany more than 300 years ago to hunt badgers. Dachshunds are bred with three coat varieties. They are smooth, long, and wirehaired. They are shown in two sizes, standard and miniature.

Golden Retriever Golden Retrievers were first bred during the 19th century on the estate of Lord Tweedmouth in Inverness-Shire, Scotland,. Golden Retrievers are among the most popular breeds in America. They often star in television shows!

Dalmatian Dalmatians are fast and strong. Their puppies are born without spots. Dalmatians are famous for being the "Fire House Dog", and were once often seen riding on fire engines.

Cocker Spaniel Cocker Spaniels are the smallest sporting dog. They get their name because they are very good at flushing and retrieving woodcocks or other birds. Did you know that President Rutherford B. Hayes owned a Cocker Spaniel named "Dot“?
