Huitzilopochtli

HISTORY Huitzilopochtli (or “hummingbird”) was the chief god of the Aztecs and was called their god of war. According to legend, it was Huitzilopochtli that urged them to leave their original homeland and led them to the Mexico Valley region.

HISTORY  Huitzilopochtli is a member of an extra- dimensional race of beings known as the Coatli who were worshipped as gods by the Mayan and Aztec Empires. Two of the Aztec gods, Camaxtli and Mixcoatl, had seduced the primeval earth-goddess, Gaea, in her role as the Aztec goddess, Coatlique, to sire worthy sons to follow them. Camaxtli fathered the sun-god,  Huitzilopochtli, and Coyolxauhqui, the moon-goddess.

HISTORY Huitzilopochtli was a fierce god who used the “serpent of fire” (the sun’s rays), to destroy his enemy siblings, the moon and stars. So as the battles of day and night continued, the Mexica (Aztec people) recognized his victories over darkness with each new sunrise

HISTORY But know that Huitzilopochtli is a cruel god to those who turn away from him! how our ancestors once became soft after founding Tenochtitlan. They grew complacent with their trades and luxuries. Huitzilopochtli is a god of war, not peace! Remember how Huitzilopochtli called upon his priests to betray the daughter of the King of Atonteco, wearing her skin before his eyes in the manner of Xipe Totec, the flayed god of corn.

symbols The southern pyramid of the Great Temple was dedicated to Huitzilopochtli, and was covered with the red and white symbols of war and sacrifice. The northern pyramid was dedicated to Tlaloc, the rain god, and was covered with blue and white symbols representing rain and moisture.

SYMBOLS The Great Temple was, then, a double pyramid around 60 metres high. It was often referred to by the Aztecs as Coatepec, or “Serpent Hill’, the place where Huitzilopochtli was born and where he killed his sister Coyolxauhqui.

RELATIVES Known Relatives: Camaxtli (father, deceased), Gaea (mother, alias Coatlique), Coyolxauhqhi (sister), The Centzoxochotzin (brothers), Quetzalcoatl, Xolotl (half-brothers), Tezcatlipoca, Mixcoatl, Xipe Totec (uncles), Tonacatecuhtli (grandfather), Tonacacihuatli (grandmother), Chamer, Itztli, Ixtab (cousins),

special powers Huitzilopochtli is a powerful and cunning warrior in armed and unarmed combat . Huitzilopochtli carries swords and implements of archery as his weapons, preferring noble weapons which utilize his mastery and talents.

SPECIAL POWERS Huitzilopochtli possesses the conventional physical attributes of the Mexican gods. Like all of the Coatli, he is extremely long-lived, but he is not immortal like the Olympian gods. He has aged at an extremely slow rate since reaching adulthood and cannot die by any conventional means.

SPECIAL POWERS He is immune to all Earthly diseases and is resistant to conventional injury. If he were somehow wounded, his godly life force would enable him to recover with superhuman speed. It would take an injury of such magnitude that it dispersed a major portion of his bodily molecules to cause him a physical death.
