Lavatories Rule of Thumb: 1 lavatory per 30 passengers They use very little water (about 0.5 gallons per flush)

Lavatory They can use much smaller diameter sewer pipes They can flush in any direction, including upward. Since a vacuum system does not use gravity to move the water, there is nothing to stop the sewer pipe from going straight up They can be put anywhere in the aircraft

Waste System Self contained Waste tanks and flushing units mix the waste with chemicals Vacuum flush from in flight pressure differential (No gravity plumbing) Must be serviced after every flight. Drain locations need to be positioned carefully
