Definitions Conveyance – Facilities used to move wastewater (includes pumps, pipes and sewers) Force main – A pressure pipe in which wastewater is conveyed with the use of pumps (pump station) Gravity sewer – A pipe that is constructed with a continuous drop in elevation to convey flow Temporary conveyance – A temporary wastewater conveyance pipe typically run above ground and permits the existing pipe to be drained, cleaned, inspected, and repaired Interceptor – A force main or gravity sewer that intercepts wastewater from multiple communities and conveys it to one of the regional wastewater treatment plants.
