Block Scheduling 8 blocks total D.E.A.R. Language Arts every day 1-4 (A-day) 5-8 (B-day) D.E.A.R. SRMS Math Courses currently offered: Math 6 –Grade level math Topics: fraction and integer arithmetic & estimation, multi-step problem solving, solving linear equations, geometry, and applications of probability Accelerated Math 6 and Math 7 - Algebra 1 Prep Topics: All of Math 6 topics will be covered in addition to: algebraic expressions, investigating linear relationships, solving multi-step equations & inequalities, and working with formulas

SRMS Math How do I help my child prepare for middle school math? Memorize addition and subtraction facts Memorize multiplication and division facts Work on simplifying and finding equivalent fractions Work on adding and subtracting fractions

Considerations for 6th grade course selection What subjects interest my child? What is my child’s reading level? Is my child motivated to work independently? Is my child a concrete thinker or an abstract thinker? Is my child an enthusiastic learner? Balanced approach Determination is the best predictor of success.

Mid-March – Elementary schools submit recommendations to Seneca Ridge Monday, August 27th- First day of school!
