BCUC’s Response to Emerging Spirit Ads

Emerging Spirit Ads 11 ads over two years To show that UCC encourages exploring different views To provoke discussion not to present opinion

This ad provokes discussion on whether Christmas should be about Jesus, Santa Claus, or can it be about both? The ad is not meant to suggest an answer, as much as to invite you to share your thoughts on the issue.

Just how literal should one take the words of The Bible? It’s long been a question of debate, and lively debate on such issues is very much what WonderCafe is about.

This tongue-in-cheek ad depicts two different ways one could interpret a simple – albeit unusual – display of faith. And it invites you to share your choice.

This ad touches on how parenthood can shake up a person’s core values and beliefs. Given that there’s an entire Discussion Lounge category dedicated to parenting, this is an appropriate thought-starter for many of our visitors.

The issue of sex and sin is presented in this ad as a simple, fun question for discussion.

We know this is a hot-button topic for many people today. This ad asks the reader to contemplate and comment on the many different elements that make up this complex issue.

Are we getting our priorities mixed up?

Have we gone too far?

Has religion become just an accessory?

Is environmentalism a new religion?

In need or just lazy?
