Textile Revision 2014 Name __________________ AQA Design Technology - Textiles Preparation Sheet for the 2014 Exam To prepare for the design question in the written exam you should investigate the following: Theme: Fairground Context: A textile product suitable for a teenager. ; Using a range of textile techniques.

First Thoughts …… DESIGN CHECKLIST Remember~ You are designing a product suitable for a teenager – think about relevant annotation and detail. Learn your design and annotation before you go into the exam. Components and fabrics used Colours to be used, properties of the fabrics Style and shape of the product Close up detail sections, front and back views Names of the decorative techniques and how to complete them. Use of the theme - Fairground Suitability to the end user Seams, hems other construction techniques First thoughts on textile products for a teenager. Bag Style/shape fasteners

Create your mood board for the Fairground Theme for a product suitable for teenagers – to help you create your design ideas.

Doodle patterns and colours … Using your mood board create pattern repeats and motif ideas.

Decorative Techniques Create a mind map thinking about the different decorative techniques you could use in your design. Think about hand techniques and then how they could be done in industry Cad/cam embroidery. Hand embroidery

Draw your two design ideas here in pencil – they do not need to be in colour but they do need to be annotated - they are worth 6 marks each. Design A Design B You will need to practise drawing your designs with full annotation – to help you draw them without thinking in the exam this summer. Remember ~ A time guide is one mark = one minute.

Final Design Choose ONE of your design ideas for development. Is it Design A or Design B ? Use sketches, labelling and notes to present a final design in colour for your textile product. Use this page and the next page to show your textile product in a presentation drawing.
