Title Pick a title, even if you’re not sure about it! Titles can include a KEYWORD, but it also needs to be catchy and grab the attention of your readers. Introduction – An introduction usually does two things: Tells how to use the book, if it is a book that needs some explanation, such as a teaching book. Gives your readers an idea of how the book came about. Like what went into creating it or your experience with the topic. 4 How to Eat an Elephant Book in One Sitting- ROAD MAP

Chapter 1 – The first chapter should introduce the topic. – Explain the problem, but don’t give the solution. – In your workbook, you created questions in Strategizing Your Problem- Solution Activity. Chapter 1 (cont’d) – You will likely discover which question should logically be discussed first, second, etc. – You may discover that not all of your questions are valid or separate questions, but that’s okay. About the Author Connie Dunn is the owner of Publish with Connie and creator of 12 Easy Steps to Publishing, How to Eat a Book Elephant, Book Launch 101, and other courses and books. She is an author, speaker and educator. She has more than 25 years of experience in writing for magazines and newspapers. She had a regular column in the Dallas Morning News, which focused on small and home-based businesses. She won an award from the SBA for the work she did in highlighting home-based businesses.
