Introduction to the unit

Research digital artform within contemporary art practice Traditional workbook — paper-based with written/oral material and illustrations Movie format — perhaps produced through PowerPoint at the simplest level incorporating imaged textual material and/or narration Hypertext document or mind map — incorporating textual material, recorded oral material and URL/hypertext links selected resources

Research using online and traditional resources on the following topics: Current practitioners Digital arts organisations International arts organisations Contexts of digital arts practice Definitions of digital arts

Immerse yourself in the broadest possible range of digital art forms and genre Examination of up to date material derived from quality resources either online or traditional Research concepts of: original digital art new media net art Sound audio art and interactive art

‘artform’ rather than purely ‘application techniques’ for example, the work of ‘Bill Viola’ rather than merely ‘learning video edit techniques’ Any missing requirements are to be re-worked/re-worded before submitting the workbook to the assessor by the completion date You will be offered a second attempt (subject to the constraints of time) The theme, topic or focus for undertaking research and producing a workbook for reassessment will be changed

Digital still and moving image techniques Digital audio techniques Your work should be presented as a portfolio, which might be in the form of a show reel or simple website. This must be suitably archived for assessment purposes.
