MDHU PLYMOUTH KEY FACTS: The first of Five MDHU’s, opened in 1995. 180 Military personnel made up of Navy, Army, RAF. The Headquarters, made up of Civilian and Military personnel is located in the Norwich Union Building. The Military Patient Admin Cell (MPAC) is situated in the NU Building with a supporting office within the Hospital. Defence Medical Welfare Service (DMWS) share an office with the MPAC in the hospital.
MISSION STATEMENT: MDHU (D) is to provide highly capable and trained secondary healthcare personnel to support operations and to support and monitor Service secondary health care patient activity in collaboration with designated NHS Trusts in order to support the physical and moral components of Fighting Power.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: The MDHU has an affiliated Physical Trainer based at HMS Drake who encourages the unit to take part in many different and exciting sporting events and activities outside the working environment, helping personnel to de-stress and relax while helping to maintaining their fitness and team morale.
