Eighth Grade Promotion Criteria Pass 9 of 12 classes. Pass the U.S.Constitution test.. If you are in danger of failing and/or being retained: 1. Attend Engage After school tutoring 3. Ask for help from your teachers. Students who are failing the eighth grade will not be allowed to participate in any eighth grade promotion activities.

COLLEGE A-G REQUIREMENTS A. History/Social Science 2 Years One year of U. S. History or one-half year of American Government/Civics and one year of World History/Cultures/Geography. B. English 4 Years College Preparatory English C. Mathematics 3 Years (4 years recommended) Algebra and above D. Laboratory Science 2 Years (3 years recommended) Lab science in at least two of these three areas: Biology, Chemistry, or Physics E. Foreign Language 2 Years (3 years recommended) Two years of the same language F. Visual and Performing Arts 1 Year Dance, Drama/Theater, Music, and Visual Arts G. College Preparatory Elective 1 Year One additional year chosen from the above A-F subject areas.

California Colleges and Universities California Community Colleges (CCC) 110 Campuses – Santa Ana College, Orange Coast College Must be 18 years of age or be a high school graduate to attend. – High school students can enroll under special arrangement to earn college or high school credit Offers Associate Degrees and Certificate Programs. Choose to attend for 2 years and then transfer to a 4 year college or university. $20 per unit, financial aid is available. California State University (CSU) 23 campuses, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, CSU Dominguez Hills ACT or SAT required for students w/G.P.A. under 3.00 Offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees. $3451 per year, financial aid is available

California Colleges and Universities University of California (UC) 10 Campuses – UCLA, UCI ACT or SAT Reasoning Test and two SAT Subject Tests Admit the top 12.5 percent of high school graduates. Offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral and professional degrees including medical and law degrees. $7,500 per year, financial aide is available Independent Colleges and Universities 75 independent colleges and universities throughout California, i.e. USC & Chapman Entrance requirements vary, check with college or university of your choice. Offers Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, and professional degrees. $25,600 per year, financial aid is available.
