19 Now is the Time to Take Charge! Let’s Talk About the 8 th Grade Contract
20 Two Important Goals at MacArthur are: 1) To teach students to take responsibility for their actions 2) To encourage students to take pride in maintaining appropriate and acceptable behavior These goals are an integral part of our educational program. Now that preparations are underway for the promotion of all 8 th grade students, we are continuing to stress the importance of these goals through our qualifications for student participation in the 8 th grade end-of-the-year activities.
21 Beginning the first semester of the 8 th grade year, all students were repeatedly reminded by staff members and all administrators that, during the second semester, their record of attendance, behavior, and class work would affect their eligibility for participation in the end-of-the-year eighth grade activities.
22 On February 1 st, the second semester began. At that time, all students received new Assignment Cards and Tardy Cards for all classes. The only record of violations that will continue into the second semester will be Dress Code violations. Having new Assignment Cards and Tardy Cards means a fresh start for your student. We believe that this places all students at the same starting point and gives an equal opportunity for eligibility to each person.
