Update on Activities of the Cluster Compilation and collation of inputs to the draft Food Security Bill through a Stakeholders review An interaction was organized with the Chhattisgarh State Assembly on the issue of “Addressing malnutrition in the State” An interaction was organized with the Parliamentary forum on Children wherein a presentation was made on the subject “Malnutrition and Urgency of Improving Newborn Survival in India” Articles on infant and young child feeding as an intervention to address malnutrition in India were written and disseminated through newsletters of the Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and their respective training institutes. Upcoming: Interaction with the Members of the Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan on “Combating Hunger and Malnutrition” between 14 th -18 th November, 2011

Food and Nutrition Security Member Agencies: WFP, WHO, UNICEF, FAO, IFAD, UNHCR, UNDP, UNIDO, UNFPA Outcome: Vulnerable populations in the UNDAF priority states have improved availability of, access to and utilization of food and nutrition to meet minimum standards.

UNDAF : Areas of work 1.Development and validation of a convergent model linking agriculture, nutrition and health for improving food and nutrition security 2.Capacity building of Government agencies and policy makers to ensure effective and efficient response to food and nutrition security issues. 3.Programme planners and policy makers have access to and know how to incorporate Global/ National best practices and evidences of food security and nutrition into their policies and programmes.
