How Yes/No Sentences Are Formed 4 Steps 1.Cross out the past tense letters in the verb (action word). 2.Add “Did” to the beginning of the sentence. 3.Change the period to a question mark. 4.Change first letter of the original sentence to a lower case letter.

Directions for creating your book 1.Put 3 pieces of construction paper together. 2.Fold them in half hamburger style. (you are creating a book) 3.Front page: Title your book and put your name as the author. 4.On the next 6 pages write a sentence about something you did when we went to the park last week. (Be sure to use your regular past tense verbs.) Example: Sally jumped off the swing. 5.Draw a picture to go with each sentence. 6.Complete a book with 6 pictures and 6 sentences.

Directions for partner work 1.Come to me so that I can give you the name of your assigned partner. 2.Trade books with your partner and read through each others book. 3.Take turns asking each other questions. Be sure to respond with yes/no answers but continue to use the verbs. Example: (Sally wrote in her book) Sally jumped off the swing. (Student reading her book says) Sally did you jump off the swing when we went to the park last week? (Sally replies) Yes, I jumped off the swing when we went to the park last week.
