Introducing…. Zafety Lug Lock ® Wheel Nut Security System

 Design engineered for superior wheel nut security.  Pairs together two lug nuts and ensures that resistance is applied continuously to the lug nuts to secure them from loosening.  Reduces risk of potential wheel loss.  Decreases the possibility of costly wheel damage.

 Wheel nuts loosen as a result of temperature change, vibration and wheel surface condition.  Loose wheel nuts result in an unbalanced load on a wheel end  Unbalanced wheel load stresses studs and nuts and can lead to nut loosening, stud shearing and wheel damage

 Zafety Lug Lock  Zafety Lug Lock ® can reduce the risk of dangerous and costly wheel separation from loose lug nuts!  Wheel fasteners are the single largest cause of wheel separation (66%) issues. Source: Proceeding of the Canadian Multidisciplinary Road Safety Conference XIV; June 27-30, 2004; Ottawa, Ontario

 Zafety Lug Lock is designed to ensure w  Zafety Lug Lock ® is designed to ensure wheel nuts remain secure prior to scheduled retorquing.  Zafety Lug Lock  Zafety Lug Lock ® creates resistance between 2 nuts minimizing their ability to rotate & loosen.  Easily installs over 2 adjacent nuts.  Use on standard or hub piloted 10 stud wheels with 1- 5/16 inch (33mm) nuts on 3- 1/2 inch centers and 4- 1/8 inch centers.  Also designed for 8 stud wheels with 7/8 inch (22mm) and 1.0 inch (25mm) nuts on 2- 1/2 inch centers.

 Pre-trip inspection requires confirmation of secure wheel lug nuts  Rules apply to all public transit & commercial buses, trucks, trailers  Zafety Lug Lock  Zafety Lug Lock ® provides a clear, visual check of lug nut position* Zafety Lug Lock * The installation of Zafety Lug Lock ® does not preclude the need for standard safety & maintenance procedures

Fleet and Driver liability is a critical issue:  NHTSA records show 1,000 reported accidents resulting from wheel loss in  Many wheel loss incidents go unreported.  $6.25 million civil award in a California personal injury accident from a wheel off

Benefits Zafety Lug Lock  Nut can be checked for proper torque with Zafety Lug Lock ® installed (Exova Report # Rev 1, June 2010)  Provides a clear visual check of lug nut security  Reduces risk of wheel loss and potential liability for personal injury, loss of life or property damage  Retains loose nut if stud breaks or shears off  Reduces need for replacement lug nuts and reduces expensive wheel damage  Reusable on replacement wheels

Features  Design engineered plastic components with patented product design.  Flexible and easy to install or remove for wheel end service - fits over two adjacent nuts.  Standard formulation for wheel end brake temperatures up to F (149 0 C).  High temperature formulation for severe braking with wheel end brake temperatures up to F (232 0 C).  Resistant to continuous chemical exposure typically found in automotive and transportation applications.  Available in custom colors

Features  Zafety Lug Lock  Zafety Lug Lock ® has a high strength to weight ratio  The design has been proven in independent vibration testing to retain lug nuts from rotation in operating temperatures ranging from -40 ⁰ F (-40 ⁰ C ) to +122 ⁰ F (+50 ⁰ C).  Field and track tested at high and low rotation levels over severe road conditions

Testing performed by Bodycote Testing Group (Exova) (Report # C0185, July 2008) Parameters: 1. Temperature testing at 25⁰C (77⁰F), 50⁰C (122⁰F) and - 40⁰C (-40⁰F) 2. Vibration test at 30 Hz and 3 g acceleration amplitude Test Procedure:  4 nuts tightened to spec ( ft-lbs)  2 nuts hand tightened Zafety Lug Lock  Visual inspection of Zafety Lug Lock® units and nuts for any changes

Observations Zafety Lug Lock  After testing at each temperature level a visual inspection indicated the Zafety Lug Lock ® units did not sustain any external damages or physical degradation  After testing at each temperature level a visual inspection indicated no evidence of any nut looseness

Zafety Lug Lock Zafety Lug Lock ® will have a positive impact on fleet maintenance and safety:  Reduced liability from risk of potential wheel loss.  Lower maintenance costs from possible wheel damage and lug nut replacement.  Nut Torque Check without removal saves time.  Simple visual check on wheel nut position  Allows fleets to visibly demonstrate proactive safety measures
