Presentation transcript:

-From back of computer, remove screws holding right side of case -Keep track of the screws you remove! -Take off case wall by pulling back, then away from case -Remove cables from: -disk player -Power supply -floppy disk -Fans

Video Card: -Remove the video card -Compare to the cuircuit board you made. Identify the circuit components -Compare it with the video card you were provided. Can you infer which computer will be faster? How can you tell?

Take out all screws holding motherboard in place Lift it out. - Find 4 resistors on the motherboard and measure their resistance - Find a capacitor on the motherboard and measure the voltage. Does this behavior match what you know about capacitors? Remove memory boards: -Push down on both white tabs simultaneously, and the board will pop out. -Estimate the area of one stick of RAM. -Compare with the RAM you were provided. Can you estimate if one of the RAM boards will be faster? How can you tell?

Lift out CPU chip. Take care not to bend of break any of the pins. -Measure the size of the CPU. -Compare it to the CPU you were provided. Can you infer which CPU is faster? How? -Lift the tabs to loosen the fan attached to the motherboard -Remove the fan and the cooling fins -There may be glue holding the fan together. You may need to use some force to break it.

Remove battery - Push silver latch, battery will pop out Measure voltage of battery Reassemble computer:  Replace battery  Insert CPU, lower bar  Replace cooling fan  Insert the memory board  Place motherboard in case, attach with all the screws  Insert the video card  Attach power cables  Replace and secure the case
