 Solid -> liquid  To change a solid to a liquid state by the application of heat.  When solid molecules heated, they loosen up and get more energy.  The intermolecular space gets bigger.  EXAMPLES  Ice Water  Candle wax Wax  Ice-cream Milk

 When rock gets really hot it turns into a liquid called magma or lava.  Mercury has the interesting properties of being both a metal and a liquid in its standard state.
