REFLECTIONS ON TEACHING PRACTICE AND FIRST YEARS OF TEACHING AT SCHOOL Dalia Tumanovienė, physics teacher at “Vilniaus Gabijos” gymnasium.

Difficulties on my practical work: I felt excitement in front of the audience, but had to learn how to organize and write a plan of a lesson. It was not easy, because I had no experience and I did not know how quickly pupils could learn, comprehend the material. It was difficult to present the same subject to pupils of different age, as I had no idea about their skills and their achievements in other subjects

Difficulties on my practical work: I did not know how to communicate with full class and properly give my attention to all of them. I faced with difficulties in checking and evaluation of tests, laboratory works, original works, giving points and marks.

Difficulties when I started my teacher’s work: Strong feeling of responsibility, stress and tension. I was alone, no tutor by my side. Work with pupils having special needs. I had not met them before and had no idea how to work. What tasks to prepare for the pupils and how to evaluate their knowledge?

Difficulties when I started my teacher’s work: How to communicate with pupils` parents. How to join; integrate into the school’s community. How to work and what methods apply for gifted students and for those, whose skills are below average.

Difficulties when I started my teacher’s work: I had no idea about the school structure, working groups, their responsibilities. How to calculate working hours and salary.

I think that: The term of practice at school should be longer The practice work should be carried at several schools. Trainees should attend lessons conducted by different teachers. The work with pupils of different age should be involved in practicing program.

I think that: Students should be acquainted with the schools structure, responsibilities of employees, documentation, calculation of working hours and correspondingly the salary. More methodical material should be collected by university students, which they can use in their work. Students should be given a possibility to work with the pupils having special needs during their practice.

GOOD LUCK AT YOUR WORK!
