Metal Rubber By: Armando Guzman MEEN 3344

Metal Rubber TM is a unique self-assembled nancomposite material that combines the high electrical conductivity of metals with the low mechanical modulus of elastomers. The self- assembly process allows the simultaneous modification of both conductivity and modulus during manufacturing. Maximum electrical conductivity is 5x10-6 W cm. Maximum elongation is approximately 200%. The electrical conductivity varies slightly with elongation.

Cost Small sheet of 6 inch² x 1 mm think cost $1000 Large sheet of 12 inch² x 1 mm thick$5000 Rectangular strip samples 2.5 inch long, 0.5 inch wide, 1 mm thick $500 for pack of five

What's so Special stretch to about 200 to 300 percent of its original length and completely reform withstand exposure to many different kinds of chemicals (from jet fuel to acetone) withstand extreme temperature heated up to 700 degrees Fahrenheit, and cooled to minus 167 degrees Fahrenheit Can be boiled overnight in water

Future uses flexible artificial limbs aircraft wings with both sturdiness and more give bendable circuits that would make your laptop or cell phone more durable stents and other biomedical products Cars and seat cushions flexible TVs you can carry in your pocket
