Colossians 3:17 17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

Do ALL in the Name of the Lord

TWO IMPORTANT WAYS TO LOOK AT TIME Quantitative: quantity- amounts – Years, months, weeks, days, hours, seconds, specific periods – Greek term for this concept of time: Chronos Luke Qualitative: quality – opportunity, “due season” – Greek term for this concept of time: Kairos Col. 4:5 (making the most of the opportunity/time /Kairos) In both aspects we ought to spend more time in service to the Lord.

Redeeming the time Eph. 5:15-17; We redeem the time by using our time well in both of these ways – Quantitatively: prioritizing and spending more time for the Lord. It may make sense that we spend more (quantitative) time sleeping and working than we do worshipping and reading the Bible. But we probably ought to spend more time reading the Bible than playing X-box – Qualitative: making God the center of all that we do and say. Doing all in the name of the Lord! (Col. 3:17)

The Context of Col. 3:17 Col. 3:1-4:6 – Having the proper actions/attitudes in relationships (3:17-4:1) Husband/wife Parent/child Master/slave – Devoting yourself to prayer (4:2-4) Pray for opportunities (vs.

Money Perhaps these principles can also be applied to money when we would desire to give more. Quantitatively – 1 Cor. 16:1-3 Qualitatively – All of our money is Gods. (Ps. 24:1; 1 Chron. 29:14) – Having Godly purpose behind buying what we buy. – What is our purpose when we buy the things that we buy.
