Bearing Fruit Jesus uses the principles about plants bearing fruit to warn of false prophets. The nature of fruit is such that it identifies the plant that bore it (v. 16) because it has the same nature as the plant bearing it (v. 17-18). Corrupt fruit is destroyed (v. 19). It is also used to identify false teachers (v. 20).

Bearing Fruit We are to be bearing fruit from the heart (Rom. 7:4; 6:22). This fruit is the visible expression of power working inwardly & invisibly. We choose what type of fruit we will produce! - Matt. 12:33.

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear Spiritual Maturity - Col 1:9-12

Bearing Fruit might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. Colossians 1:9-12 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11strengthened with all

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear Godly Influence & Example - Matt 5:13-16; Phil 2:14-16

Bearing Fruit Do all things without complaining and disputing, 15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain. Philippians 2:14-16 You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. 14You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear Teaching The Gospel - Matt 9:37-38; 2 Tim 2:2

Bearing Fruit And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. 2 Timothy 2:2 Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear In The Home - Col 3:18-21; Eph. 5:22-25; 6:1-4

Bearing Fruit Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother," which is the first commandment with promise: 3"that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth." 4And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 20Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. Colossians 3:18-21 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. 24Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. 25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, Ephesians 5:22-25

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear In The Home - Col 3:18-21; Eph. 5:22-25; 6:1-4 Wife - Fruit of subjection (fitting) Husband - Fruit of love (not bitterness) Children - Fruit of obedience Parents - Fruit of tender care

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear On The Job - Col 3:22-4:1; Eph 6:5-7

Bearing Fruit Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, Ephesians 6:5-7 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality. 4:1Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. Colossians 3:22 - 4:1

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear On The Job - Col 3:22-4:1; Eph 6:5-7 Employee - Fruit of honest labor Employer - Fruit of justice and fairness

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear Love For Brethren - Jn 13:35; 1 Jn 3:16-18

Bearing Fruit By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:16-18 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:35

Bearing Fruit Some Types Of Fruit We Should Bear Obedience To Christ - Matt 7:21; Jn 15:10

Bearing Fruit “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.” John 15:10 “Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9

Bearing Fruit year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.'" Luke 13:6-9 He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?' 8But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Abide In Christ - Jn 15:1-4

Bearing Fruit “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” John 15:1-4

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Abide In Christ - Jn 15:1-4 We abide in Christ by obeying His word - v. 3-4; 1 Jno. 1:7.

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Abide In Christ - Jn 15:1-4 We abide in Christ by obeying His word - v. 3-4; 1 Jno. 1:7. Be careful for our fellowship with Christ - Eph. 5:6-11; 2 Jno. 9

Bearing Fruit Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7Therefore do not be partakers with them. 8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. Ephesians 5:6-11

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Bible Study - 2 Tim 2:15; Psa 119:97-104

Bearing Fruit feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. 102I have not departed from Your judgments, For You Yourself have taught me. 103How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104Through Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore I hate every false way. Psalms 119:97-104 Be diligent (Study) to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they are ever with me. 99I have more understanding than all my teachers, For Your testimonies are my meditation. 100I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts. 101I have restrained my

Bearing Fruit Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." Matthew 9:37-38 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Be Led By The Spirit Of God - Gal 5:16, 18, 25

Bearing Fruit If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Galatians 5:18

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Self-Examination - 2 Cor 13:5; 1 Cor 9:26-27

Bearing Fruit Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. 27But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --unless indeed you are disqualified. 2 Corinthians 13:5

Bearing Fruit What We Can Do To Increase Our Fruit - Lk 13:6-9 Correct Our Sins In God’s Way - Acts 8:22; 1 Jn 1:9

Bearing Fruit If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 “Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.” Acts 8:22

Galatians 3:26-27 "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. John 15:8
